Celebrating 30 Years of Connection at the IGBOSSAA ’92 6th Annual General Meeting

Theme: Full Flight to Greater Accomplishment

On September 10, 2022, IGBOSSAA ’92 celebrated a momentous occasion—the 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) alongside a 30th reunion gathering. Held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Ikeja, Lagos, alumni from around the world came together to celebrate, reconnect, and discuss the future of their association.

Event Highlights – Opening Ceremony

The day began with a warm welcome led by the Master of Ceremony, Olusegun Shodimu. Mr. Shola Olaniyan opened the event with a prayer, followed by the National and School Anthem renditions. Mrs. Tokosi Husseinat, the AGM Committee Chairperson, officially opened the meeting, expressing her gratitude for the privilege of leading this event and recognizing the collective efforts of alumni in supporting the association.

Farewell Address from Outgoing Chairman

Mrs. Ireoluwa Amoo, the outgoing Chairman, delivered a heartfelt farewell speech, highlighting the achievements during her tenure, including:

  • Installation of ceiling fans, plastic chairs, and a generator for the school.
  • Scholarships awarded to the top students in Junior and Senior WAEC.
  • Establishment of a State-of-the-Art ICT room and a new food mart.

Mrs. Amoo thanked all alumni for their unwavering support and encouraged them to continue working towards the betterment of the school and association.

Adoption of Amended Constitution and Swearing-in of New Executives

The newly amended constitution was formally adopted, with Mr. Lanre Ayodele, Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, leading the adoption process. Following this, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Alhaji Dimeji Lemboye, conducted the inauguration ceremony, disbanding the outgoing executives and swearing in the new team.

Acceptance Speech from the New Chairman

The incoming Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Durotoye, addressed the alumni, expressing his gratitude and outlining his goals for the association, including:

  • Registering the association with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
  • Establishing a welfare plan for members and students.
  • Building a mentorship program to support current students’ growth.

Alhaji Durotoye pledged to serve with humility and dedication, emphasizing the importance of unity, transparency, and collaboration.

30th Reunion Celebrations

The reunion was marked by joyous activities, including:

  • Fun games, dance sessions, and lively social interactions.
  • Thoughtful reflections and storytelling by alumni, bringing back cherished memories.
  • Anniversary cake cutting and photo sessions.
  • Gifts, recharge card giveaways, and a Q&A session with the MC.

A solemn moment of silence was observed in memory of deceased members, adding a reflective touch to the celebrations.

Health and Wellness Support

Thanks to alumni sponsors, a medical caravan offered free health services, including COVID-19 vaccinations, blood pressure and sugar tests, and HIV counseling. Additionally, transportation to and from the event was provided courtesy of Alhaji Oladimeji Lemboye.

Closing Remarks

The event concluded with closing remarks from the new Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Durotoye, encouraging continued support for the new executives. The vote of thanks and closing prayer were followed by continued dancing, bonding, and celebration.

The 6th AGM and 30th Reunion was an unforgettable event, celebrating the enduring spirit of IGBOSSAA ’92 and setting the stage for future achievements. We look forward to another year of growth, unity, and positive impact.
