Senior School Computer Lab Rehabilitation and Stocking Project 2022

September 10, 2022 | 1min read

In the current global world of information technology, education is both a necessity and an investment which everybody must embrace with the seriousness that it deserves. The era of teaching the students the concept of Information technology in the abstract without the pre-requisite practical hands-on is becoming extinct and outdated. The practical knowledge and appreciation of the information technology is fast becoming the order of the day hence the need to expose our students to the current realities of the academic world. The Association have always insisted that our desire is to make the School (Igbo-Owu Secondary Schools) a destination for learning and capacity building where students and teachers will be happy to learn and work.

In the renovation of the ICT lab, the donation of the few sets of Computers, projector and the Generator, the old students of 1992 set of the school have displayed a rare act of giving back to its alma mater and ensuring that the current and successive students of the school excel and have conducive learning experience.

We are therefore thrilled to be in your midst as both the contributor and a witness to the commissioning of this laudable self-funding project. We are positive that the students, the school authorities and by extension the parents of these proud students who are the ultimate beneficiaries of this project will feel so inspired to excel in their studies and duties respectively. We also hope that the school authorities and the parents will use this project to ingrain the need for positive comradeship in the students for the betterment of the society.

This initiative is borne out of the need to give back to the society and to entrench the culture of appreciating our journey through the alma mater. We are equally aware that the task of developing educational infrastructure cannot be totally left in the hands of the government hence the need to co-participate in its development and support for common goals and purposes.

The enormity of the challenges in front of us is huge but surmountable. The calls for infrastructural development and the need to give are ever pervasive. To this end, we call on other previous sets of this great school to show commitment in the quest towards supporting the government in the development of the school. There is no gainsaying the fact that a sound education is a panacea for peace and development. The ’92 set is committed to its mandate of giving back to the school. This self-funding project is a testament to that fact.

We want to use this medium to appeal to all the relevant stakeholders to make use of these equipment in a judicious manner and guard it jealously. The essence of the initiative is for learning and the development of discerning mind-set in the students. We want to create several ‘’Mark Zuckerbergs’’ out of these brilliant students. We want to create a platform for producing future hi-tech giants that will improve the ICT landscape of the country.

Once again, we thank the officials of the school for giving us the free hand to handle the project. We equally thank the various donors (monetary and non-monetary) to the project under the auspices of the Project committee. We appreciate the leadership of the Chairman, IGBOSSA ’92 set for her exemplary leadership. I, being the Chairman of the project committee, am honoured to stand in front of you to commission this noble project which I now do to the glory of God, the members of the IGBOSSA ’92 and the entire community of Igbo-Owu Senior Secondary School.

Long live the School.
Long Live Lagos State.
Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
